Heartland Design brings cost-effective custom creations to a wide array of companies. From hospitals and real estate offices to business startups and restaurants. “We’re excited to bring state-of-the-art design and manufacturing of business signage and décor to Richland County, Central Ohio and beyond,” says CEO Paul Forbes. Just like countless other businesses in Richland County, Paul and his family are doing it together, bringing a strong quality and trust to the table when working with clients. “Being from the local area and having grown up here, it’s a real honor to service local businesses.”
Heartland Design Concepts specializes in custom signage, print materials, and other branded goods such as drinkware, home decor, and gift items. From conceptualizing a project through installation, HDC supports their clients. All stages are handled in house; design, production, and installation meaning client satisfaction and care are top priority.

Heartland Design Concepts started out as a division of Forbes Rehab Services, providing in-house printing, product labeling, and business signage needs. In 2016 Heartland Design Concepts was spun off as an independent company and moved into our current 12,000 square foot facility. To set ourselves apart as a leading provider of business signage, décor and branding products and services, we assembled a professional staff of designers, sales and application specialists, engineers, and production specialists with a combined experience of over 60 years.
Paul Forbes, our CEO and founder has an extensive background in engineering, a trade he continues to instill in Heartland Design's business signage. “It’s really exciting for me,” Paul adds, “to create designs and develop concepts that just aren’t available elsewhere.” We are also a small business. "I think it’s important that people understand we are not a big corporate entity from somewhere out of state. We are a locally-owned family business. We work one-on-one with customers, and it’s just a real privilege to be able to do that.”
In-House Production
Through investing in state-of-the-art machinery, Heartland Design Concepts is able to offer Mansfield and the North Central Ohio area quality close to home. With UV Printers, roll-to-roll printers, large format heat presses, and one of the area’s largest precision lasers the team has created more opportunity for their clients to have customized signage.“We are handling both the designs and manufacturing right here in Mansfield, in this facility, and we have total control,” Paul adds. “It gives us better quality. It gives us more creative designs and it gives us a better turnaround. By not having another person or another company in the supply chain, our costs are more effective.”
Custom Design
Our in house design team works hand in hand with every client to create the perfect design for every project. The process begins with Kristin and the Idea Center. “The Idea Center is a place full of tons of products that can help spark creativity for our customers,” Kristin says. “You can come in and we can design something custom for you. It doesn’t have to be something that’s only available on our website. We can really get that ‘wow’ factor for our customers.” After meeting with Kristin, you’ll receive design proofs to ensure you get exactly what you are looking for before production kicks off. The Heartland Design Concepts designers capitalize on custom ideas to create virtually anything a client can dream up.
